Sorry to hear that , he will be a sad loss to cricket. He always played with dignity and a lot of fun .... I remember him getting plenty of success against us in Fauldhouse offering slow spinners in exchange for your wicket.

Deepest sympathy to his family, friends and Marchmont.

Just read the sad news too.

A lovely man and great cricket fan.

Deepest sympathies from all at Mufs.

Sad news indeed. As Pasty says, Roger always played the game in the spirit its intended to. A gentleman on the field and off the field. A pleasure to play with and against. He will be sadly missed in the East cricket scene.

Condolonces and deepest sympathy to his family, friends and all at Marchmont CC.

A man held in the highest esteem by everyone who knew him. Our deepest sympathy to all of his family and everyone at Marchmont from myself, my father and David.

Thank you for all your kind words. I will pass them on to Aaron and Davi and the rest of the family.

Roger died at around 6 o' clock on Saturday evening. As you can imagine, all his family are devastated as are all the members at Marchmont and all the people he met. He was one of those people you had to love. He had a reputation that preceeded him as a welcoming, generous and passionate man which made him well know as one of the biggest characters in Scottish cricket.

He will be deeply missed by all the people who he had in his life. I feel deeply proud to have known and played along side him.

Roger was one of lifes gentlemen and always greeted me with the warmest of smiles and genuine interest in my families welll being. I will miss him greatly.

With deepest sympathy to his family and friends from all at Preston Village.

Sad news indeed. Roger was very supportive of our club when we formed. As so many have said already, he was always ready with a warm smile and played every game - league, cup or friendly - with the same enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, however faintly. Sincerest condolences to his family, friends and teammates at Marchmont from Old Contemptibles.

Everyone at Haddington CC is very saddened to hear of Roger's passing away. He was one of the true gentlemen of the game which will be all the poorer for his passing.

I would like to pass on our condolences and deepest sympathy from everyone at Haddington CC to his family and everyone at Marchmont CC.

I met Roger a few times when I started playing, he was a really pleasant guy with a great enthusiasm for the game. He will be missed in the East League.

All who knew Roger at my Club are saddened at his passing, as highlighted by previous contributors, a true gentleman, cricket enthusiast, whose warm and infectious smile both on and off the field of play will be remembered.

Very sad news indeed. I am sure many of us will have lasting memories of Roger. He was always a credit to the game and will be sadly missed.

My condolences to the Sardesai family, from myself and all at Penicuik.

John Downie - Former SCU President
Truly very sad news. One of our former players commented that Roger was "one of those people who make you smile as soon as you see them." He could have had a Sporting Behaviour message board all to himself.

Condolences to his family and all at Marchmont from his friends at Holy Cross.

So sad to hear about the news of Roger's death. The thought of all at Drummond Trinity go to his family and friends. I can add very little, other than it was entirely typical that my last brief conversation with him at a winter net, involved cricket and an enquiry about my involvement with the ANL. A smashing decent man who we will all miss.

Everyone at Kismet CC would like to pass on their Deepest condolences and sympathy to all of Roger's family and all at Marchmont CC.

Very saddened to hear the news of Rogers death. Some of my happiest cricketing memories are of playing playing friendlies against Marchmont. Roger was a true gentleman of the game. A pleasure to bowl against even though he hit one around the park with great ease, but always with a smile and a friendly word of encouragement for young players. He will be greatly missed and very, very fondly remembered.

Condolences to Aaron, Davi and Marchmont CC.

We have played against Roger quite a few times and enjoyed his humour and enthusiasm in each game. He deserves total respect as a sportsman and a gentleman.

From the Committee and players at Cramond CC.

Only just heard the news about Roger and I was quite numbed. If there were more like Roger this world would be such a better pace to live in............

On behalf of everyone at Boroughmuir CC, could I take this opportunity to pass on my condolences at the sad passing of Roger Sardesai. As a player for more years than I care to remember, I played against Roger on many occasions. He was invariably an absolute gentleman with a good word to say about everyone and played the game in the spirit it should be played in. Cricket in Edinburgh and the east is most definitely the poorer for his passing. If there is any consolation to be had at this sad time, your club can take it from the number of glowing testimonies made to Roger in the east league website from clubs all over the region who held him in such high esteem.

Once again, our condolences to Roger's family and all at Marchmont, from everyone at Boroughmuir CC.
